Connecting your user's Quicklink to a Dashboard Portlet! (Step 2)

Once you have designed your Quicklink in the Quicklink Designer please follow the steps below:

1. Go through Customization > Scripting > Scripts and click on “Scripts”:
 

2. Go to the Filters section at the top of the page and change the “Type” filter to “Portlet.”

3. Sort the list of scripts by name and look for the script called:  [REED] QuickLinks V2

4. Click on the “View” button in the “Edit | View” column

This will take you to a script page:
 

5. Click on the Deployments subtab:
 

These are what tell NetSuite that you have made a portlet. You will make one of these. If other's have made any in your account then some other deployments will exist.


6. Click on the “Deploy Script” button (see above)

7. This will open up a new Script Deployment page:
 

• Change the Title* field to “QuickLinks - Username” (of course use the persons actual name.
• Make sure the Deployed checkbox is ticked.
• Change the Status to “Released”
   

8. In the audience subtab, select all for the “Internal Roles” section:
 

This will make your portlet visible to all people. It will not put it on their dashboard. It will just let them put it on their dashboard. If you want a more restricted set of people to be able to use it then adjust the filters here accordingly. They behave like the audience subtab under a saved search. You can define the audience easily by role, subsidiary, department and employee.

9. Click on the Parameters subtab:
 

10. Enter your Portlet Number from the portlet designer into the Portlet Number field and enter a title that you want to display on the portlet on your dashboard into the portlet title field.  ie “QuickLinks - Username”
 

13. Click Save

 You have now made the QuickLink available for the user to add to their dashboard - by adding a Custom Portlet and selecting “QuickLinks - Username” on the Dashboard.
